Last year I became especially inspired by the weed lines of sargassum and all the sea life living below while we were out mahi fishing. I'd be scooping up the weeds and studying their intricate colors, shapes, and patterns. I was finding myself in the water photographing their movement in the waves, and all the fish and sea life hiding within. This collection is full of blues, greens, and golds that I felt the need to bring to life in the studio.
This large 4ft painting is inspired by the first Sail I ever caught. He was all lit up jumping like crazy as we fought. We grabbed a quick photo then let him go. It was such a great fight and a first catch I'll never forget. The sailfish is the fastest fish in the ocean, sailfish can reach speeds of up to 68 miles per hour. Their large size and spirited fight make them a favorite among trophy fishermen. Sailfish are fairly abundant and their population is considered stable. Take home this original piece of art as a trophy of your catch!
