Last year I became especially inspired by the weed lines of sargassum and all the sea life living below while we were out mahi fishing. I'd be scooping up the weeds and studying their intricate colors, shapes, and patterns. I was finding myself in the water photographing their movement in the waves, and all the fish and sea life hiding within. This collection is full of blues, greens, and golds that I felt the need to bring to life in the studio.
Hammerheads have always been a favorite of my sons, and he's been asking me to paint one since he could talk. After watching SHARKWATER, a passionate documentary about what is happening to our sharks, I started taking an interest in the animals I've always admired, but had beed told to fear. Did you know that for every human a shark kills, humans kill 8,000,000 sharks? That's insane right.... If you haven't watched Sharkwater yet its a good place to start. If you are anything like me you will find yourself digging deeper and deeper into the truths about shark finning that is happening all around the world, and worse.. right here in your backyard. This piece is 8ft long. I wanted you to feel as if you were cruising along side this amazingly large and strong creature. The collector who purchases this piece will choose a foundation of their choice to have 10% of the sales donated to.
