Last year I became especially inspired by the weed lines of sargassum and all the sea life living below while we were out mahi fishing. I'd be scooping up the weeds and studying their intricate colors, shapes, and patterns. I was finding myself in the water photographing their movement in the waves, and all the fish and sea life hiding within. This collection is full of blues, greens, and golds that I felt the need to bring to life in the studio.
Wahoo are known for their speed and prized meat. While we were offshore we hooked a very large wahoo and fought it for what seemed like forever. As it came close to the boat it took off for one last fight and wrapped around our prop. My husband was ready to jump in right on top of the fish, but we were able to get him in! I was amazed by his colors and stripes and started photographing them right away. They quickly faded as we brought him onto the boat, but I was able to bring them back to life on this large 4ft painting.
